Barang's Cambodian Restaurant in Borough Market

This week I photographed the team behind Barang Street Kitchen – a Cambodian street food concept founded by Tom Geoffrey back in 2021. The whole project has grown through residencies and supper clubs, most recently at Louie, and it’s now landed for a six-month pop-up at The Globe Tavern in Borough Market.

There was a real buzz the moment I walked in. Barang has only just opened after some hugely successful preview nights, and the energy in the room was unmistakable. Tom is a warm, welcoming host as well as a seriously talented chef, and alongside his general manager Angus, they make a formidable team. I photograph a lot of people and businesses, and you can feel straight away when the chemistry is right. These two have it in spades.

I’ve not even eaten there yet, but based on what everyone’s saying, I’ll be booking a table very soon. If the food lives up to the atmosphere, it’s going to be something special.
