About Me

Photo: Harry Richards
Hi, I'm Gary 👋
I'm an award-winning photographer based in London. I shoot events, lifestyle and portraits. My work has been published in the New York Times, books, billboards and most impressively tea-towels.
Yeah, yeah but who are you, really?
If you want my old dating profile it was something like this... I live in Islington, London and when I'm not taking photos I love singing, outdoorsy stuff and dogs. I love a bit of theatre, a city break, art galleries, cooking, chocolate, and tea. I love exploring new places but hate the hassle of getting there. All that said, I'm usually quite happy sitting in bed with a bag of Maltesers watching Breaking Bad.
Happiest moment: Scrubbing an elephant's toe nails.
Favourite pet: I had a pet hedgehog called Spike.
Proudest moment: Singing at Carnegie Hall.
Fun fact: I met the King at Buckingham Palace
Movies: The Talented Mr Ripley, White Chicks, Silence of the Lambs.
Books: The Goldfinch (Donna Tartt), Any Human Heart (William Boyd), Four Hour Work Week (Tim Ferriss)
Songs: Somos Novios (Luis Miguel), That's Life (Sinatra), A Sky Full of Stars (Coldplay), Love Theme from Dances with Wolves (John Williams)
Favourite punctuation mark: Em dash (so much nicer than a semi-colon).
Favourite biscuit: Garibaldi (it’s me!)
Favourite sport: People watching
Drinks: Classic Daiquiri, London Pride, Fortnum & Mason Smokey Earl Grey tea (all three in that order is a perfect night out).

If You Want To Know More...
Before I lived in Islington I spent most of my life in Grimsby (fish and chips), so you'll find me pretty down to earth and straightforward. My "other" life as a singer has taken me from Buckingham Palace to Carnegie Hall (more on that later), so I am used to working under pressure and delivering when it really counts.
I've had the honour of having my work featured in the New York Times, ArtDoc Photography Magazine, World of Interiors Magazine, Dodho Magazine (photography awards), officially selected for the International Photography Awards, Honourable Mention in the London Photography Awards, the Historic England National Archive, exhibited at the Decode gallery in Arizona, the Hellenic American Union Annual Exhibition, the Art Square Gallery in New York, the Chania International Photo Festival, the Trieste Photo Festival, the Glasgow Gallery of Photography (in their Masters of Street Photography exhibition), the Shutter Hub annual exhibition at Cambridge University and F-Stop Magazine's 20th Anniversary exhibition. I love wedding photography and was delighted to win the Hitched Wedding Awards 2024. All that good stuff side, what truly matters most to me is you and your story.
“I had a wonderful shoot with Gary - he was patient, helpful with providing direction and took the time to ensure I could test out a few different options and set-ups. He made me feel comfortable from the onset. A true professional who produced some wonderful results!”
Beyond The Lens
If you think you’ve seen my face before it might be from my work as a freelance presenter. Over the years, I've recorded literally thousands of videos and voice-overs for clients like the NHS, Sainsbury's, McCain, and (coincidentally) Jessops Cameras.
If you caught the West End's Rat Pack show, you might have seen me donning the persona of Frank Sinatra. My love of singing has taken me to some iconic stages including Carnegie Hall, Buckingham Palace, Ronnie Scott's, Abbey Road studios and the Royal Albert Hall. I've also been profiled in the Sunday Times' ‘Fame and Fortune’ section, and was honoured with an invitation to Downing Street in recognition of my work with the Caron Keating Foundation.

The Art Of Storytelling
You might be wondering how music relates to photography. Well, my passion for performing has taught me the art of storytelling - capturing emotions and moments that truly touch people's hearts. It's this very passion that drives me to create photographs that not only look stunning but also resonate with the moment. I love what I do and I'd love to work with you.
