A Night To Remember At Boisdale In Belgravia


Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a 19th birthday party at Boisdale in Belgravia a venue I know well for its elegant charm and character. However, this time, I walked into a completely transformed space. All the usual tables and chairs had been cleared out to create room for a big celebration, complete with a band, a DJ, and plenty of space for dancing. It was incredible to see how the restaurant adapted for such a large and lively party.


The atmosphere was electric, with guests enjoying all the features Boisdale is famous for. The cigar terrace was a popular spot throughout the evening, offering a relaxed retreat for those who wanted a quiet moment amid the festivities. The restaurant’s renowned wine selection didn’t disappoint, and the food was as exceptional as ever. It all came together to create a truly memorable celebration.

Photographing A London Birthday Party


From a photography perspective, the evening was a fun challenge. Boisdale’s red walls and black ceiling add to its cosy and intimate vibe but can make lighting tricky for photographers. Typically, we rely on bouncing light off bright surfaces, but that wasn’t an option here. Instead, I had to employ some creative techniques to ensure the lighting complemented the room’s ambiance and still brought out the vibrant energy of the event. I’m thrilled with the results—the photos capture the joy, laughter, and fun of the night beautifully.


It’s always a privilege to be part of such a special occasion, and this party was no exception. Everyone had a fantastic time, and I’ll admit, I did too! It’s not every day you get to document a party that’s as exciting to photograph as it is to experience.
