A Much Loved Photographer at his home in Nottinghamshire
I’m really pleased to share this recent portrait session with the brilliant Chris Upton – widely known for his travel and landscape photography based in Nottinghamshire.
We first met when I attended one of his workshops in Venice and, since then, we’ve become friends. It was a genuine pleasure to head down to his home near Newark and take his portrait. I’ve always found photographing another photographer a little daunting, but Chris made the whole process easy and fun.
Chris specialises in Travel, Landscape and Social Documentary photography. He is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and for over eight years he served as a brand ambassador for Fujifilm and his images are represented by several international stock agencies. He’s also given over 500 talks to camera clubs and societies around the world. I tell you all this just to underline how respected he is in the photography community – it was an honour to work with him.
After the shoot we went for an afternoon walk around the woods close to Sherwood Forest (yes – I’d never been before!) and I took a few nature shots while practising with my new Fuji X100 VI. Since Chris lives just a short drive from that scenery, it felt the perfect opportunity. Sherwood Forest is best described as magical. Really. I think that because it is so ancient there is something very special about walking through it. Plus we were so lucky with the weather we had.
